EyeSight Driver Assist Technology is standard on every 2026 Subaru Uncharted — Premium FWD, Sport, and GT. No trim upgrade is required to activate it. For Hudson Valley buyers evaluating the Uncharted on safety grounds, EyeSight is the reason Subaru consistently earns top safety ratings across its lineup — and on the all-electric Uncharted platform, it operates the same way as on Subaru’s other vehicles.
Bottom Line: EyeSight is standard on all three Uncharted trims. The full suite includes Pre-Collision Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, Lane Change Assist, and Front/Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Traffic Jam Assist is Sport and GT only. The Driver Monitor: Distraction Mitigation System is Sport and GT only.
- All trims: EyeSight with Pre-Collision Braking, Adaptive Cruise, Lane Centering, Blind Spot Monitor, Lane Change Assist, Front/Rear Cross Traffic Alert
- Sport and GT add: Traffic Jam Assist, Driver Monitor: Distraction Mitigation System
- Camera-based system: stereo cameras behind the windshield
How EyeSight Works on the Uncharted
EyeSight uses stereo cameras mounted at the top of the windshield — a dual-camera design that provides depth perception for distance and relative speed calculation. The system processes the camera feed continuously and coordinates with the Uncharted’s braking, throttle, and steering systems to respond when it detects a hazard or lane deviation.
On an all-electric platform, EyeSight’s integration with the drivetrain is seamless — the single-speed electric motor responds to EyeSight’s interventions without the delay that internal combustion engine vehicles can experience during emergency braking or ACC deceleration.
Pre-Collision Braking
Pre-Collision Braking detects vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists in the path ahead. When it identifies an imminent collision, it alerts the driver first. If the driver doesn’t respond in time, the system applies autonomous braking — up to and including a full stop.
For Hudson Valley drivers, this is particularly relevant on Route 9 and Route 9D where deer crossings are regular occurrences, on the Taconic State Parkway where traffic stoppages can form quickly around curves, and in Dutchess County residential areas with limited sight-line intersections. Pre-Collision Braking also activates in reverse — detecting obstacles during low-speed backing maneuvers.
Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) maintains a set following distance from the vehicle ahead automatically. When traffic slows, the Uncharted decelerates to maintain distance. When traffic clears, it accelerates back to the set speed.
Lane Centering works alongside ACC to keep the Uncharted positioned within its lane at highway speeds. The stereo cameras track lane markings and apply small steering corrections to maintain center position through curves and variable road geometry.
On the Uncharted’s electric drivetrain, ACC deceleration is augmented by regenerative braking — the electric motor recaptures energy during deceleration, which means the system can begin slowing the vehicle efficiently before the friction brakes engage.
Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Prevention
Lane Keep Assist monitors the Uncharted’s position within its lane and alerts the driver — visual and audible warning — when the vehicle begins drifting outside lane markings without a turn signal. Lane Departure Prevention goes further, applying a steering input to guide the vehicle back toward lane center.
For Hudson Valley commuters driving Route 55, Route 82, or the Taconic State Parkway where lanes can narrow and road edges are less clearly delineated than on divided highways, these systems add a layer of protection against inattentive drift.
Blind Spot Monitor and Lane Change Assist
The Uncharted’s Blind Spot Monitor uses rear-corner radar to detect vehicles in the blind spot zone on both sides of the vehicle. A visual warning appears in the corresponding side mirror. Lane Change Assist extends this — if the driver activates a turn signal while a vehicle is in the target lane, it adds an audible and haptic warning.
These systems are standard across all three Uncharted trims, including the Premium FWD.
Front and Rear Cross Traffic Alert
Front Cross Traffic Alert warns the driver when vehicles approach from the sides at low-speed intersections — where the Uncharted’s forward progress into an intersection may not give the driver adequate time to spot crossing traffic. The system uses the EyeSight cameras to detect vehicles approaching from either side.
Rear Cross Traffic Alert detects approaching traffic when backing out of parking spaces — relevant in the large parking lots common on Long Island and in Hudson Valley town centers where perpendicular parking spaces have limited rear sight lines.
Both alerts are standard on all three Uncharted trims.
Traffic Jam Assist: Sport and GT Only
Traffic Jam Assist extends ACC and Lane Centering into stop-and-go conditions. When the vehicle ahead comes to a full stop, the Uncharted stops and waits. When traffic resumes, it follows. For Hudson Valley commuters who deal with congestion on Route 9 through Poughkeepsie and Fishkill, or who commute toward the Taconic’s peak-hour traffic, Traffic Jam Assist reduces the repetitive manual braking and acceleration of slow-speed commutes.
Traffic Jam Assist is available on Sport and GT but not on the Premium FWD.
Driver Monitor: Distraction Mitigation System — Sport and GT Only
The Driver Monitor uses an in-cabin sensor to detect when the driver’s gaze direction has shifted away from the road for a period of time and issues an alert to re-engage attention. It is a behavioral-layer safety system that addresses distracted driving — the human factor underlying a significant portion of collision events.
Per the Uncharted’s specification sheet, the Distraction Mitigation System is available on Sport and GT only. It is not available on the Premium FWD.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is EyeSight available on the Premium FWD? Yes. EyeSight Driver Assist Technology — including Pre-Collision Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, and Lane Change Assist — is standard on the Premium FWD.
What safety features are only on Sport and GT? Traffic Jam Assist and the Driver Monitor: Distraction Mitigation System are available on Sport and GT but not on the Premium FWD.
Does EyeSight affect the Uncharted’s range? EyeSight’s active intervention features (emergency braking, ACC deceleration) may incorporate regenerative braking on the electric platform, potentially recovering a small amount of energy. It does not meaningfully impact overall range.
