The 2026 Ford Bronco Big Bend is the volume trim, and it is also the one with the most personality choices: Black Diamond turns it into a steel-armored washout-floor work truck, Free Wheeling gives it 1970s stripes and a silver grille, and Black Appearance blacks out every bit of brightwork. Each package changes wheels, tires and what else you can add. This guide explains all three so Nassau County buyers can configure a Big Bend without surprises.

Bottom Line: Black Diamond is the capability package, Free Wheeling is the style package, and Black Appearance is the murdered-out package; you can pair Black Diamond with either look, but Free Wheeling and Black Appearance cannot be combined.

  • Black Diamond: steel bumpers, bash plates, rock rails, rubber floor, e-locking rear axle, 32-inch A/T tires
  • Free Wheeling: retro graphics, Iconic Silver grille with red accents, Sunset Weave seats, body-color handles
  • Black Appearance: black grille, handles, flares and mirror caps with black graphics; all three get 17-inch black steel wheels

Big Bend Before You Add Anything

A standard Big Bend builds on Base with 17-inch Carbonized Gray aluminum wheels on 255/75R17 all-terrain tires (32-inch), privacy glass and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. It uses the 2.3L EcoBoost with the 7-speed manual standard or the 10-speed automatic optional, and for 2026 it is offered as a 4-Door. The Mid Package, covered in our Mid vs Lux Package guide, is the other major option.

One 2026 change to note: the leather gear shift knob is no longer standard on Big Bend. Everything else in the trim carries over. For where Big Bend sits against Outer Banks and Badlands, see the Bronco trim levels guide.

Black Diamond Package: The Capability Upgrade

Black Diamond is the package that makes a Big Bend behave like a junior Badlands. It adds advanced 4x4 with automatic on-demand engagement, powder-coated steel front and rear bumpers, full-vehicle steel bash plates, rock rails, LED fog lamps, auxiliary switches with pre-run accessory wiring, rubberized washout flooring with drain plugs, marine-grade vinyl seats and 17-inch black high-gloss steel wheels on 265/70R17 all-terrain tires (32-inch).

Underneath, it swaps in a 4.46 final drive with an electronic-locking rear axle, the single most useful traction upgrade for Long Island sand. Black Diamond is also the gateway to more: on Big Bend, the Sasquatch Package, the Raptor-style running boards and the Ford Performance heavy-duty modular front bumper all require Black Diamond first. Cloth seats are not available with it; you get marine-grade vinyl in Black Onyx or Smoked Truffle.

Christopher Bahamonde
"Black Diamond is the package I recommend to anyone in Wantagh or Seaford who drives on the beach or owns a dog. Rubber floors with drain plugs and vinyl seats mean you hose it out and move on. Free Wheeling is for the buyer who wants people to stop them in the Levittown parking lot and ask about the stripes."

Free Wheeling vs. Black Appearance: Two Opposite Looks

Free Wheeling is the retro package: reflective Free Wheeling graphics, an Iconic Silver-painted grille with white BRONCO lettering and red accents, body-color painted door handles, Sunset Weave marine-grade vinyl/cloth seats, floor liners with carpet mats, and 17-inch black steel wheels. Add Sasquatch and the wheels become bright-machined black alloys with red accents. It is not offered in Marsh Gray or Desert Sand, and it cannot be combined with paint protection film or the Black Appearance Package.

Black Appearance goes the other way: black molded-in-color door handles, fender flares, grille and mirror caps, a black graphics package and the same 17-inch black steel wheels. With Sasquatch and Black Diamond together it upgrades to beadlock-capable black aluminum wheels with high-clearance flares. Black Appearance cannot be paired with the Carbonized Gray molded-in-color hard top; the Shadow Black painted hard top is the intended match.

Can you stack them? Black Diamond pairs with either Free Wheeling or Black Appearance. Free Wheeling and Black Appearance are mutually exclusive. The most capable Big Bend is Black Diamond plus Sasquatch, which brings 35-inch tires and locking front and rear axles; our Sasquatch Package explainer covers whether that step is worth it. Which Big Bend Package Fits Nassau County Life?

Beach regulars, dog owners and contractors: Black Diamond. The rubber floor, vinyl seats and rear locker are exactly what Robert Moses sand and a wet Labrador call for, and the steel bumpers shrug off parking-lot contact in East Meadow.

Buyers who want a Bronco that looks like a 1970s Bronco: Free Wheeling, ideally in Velocity Blue or Oxford White where the stripes pop. It is a lower-cost path to head-turning style than the Heritage Edition, though without Sasquatch standard.

Buyers who want a stealthy, modern look: Black Appearance with the Shadow Black hard top on a Shadow Black or Avalanche Gray body. Add Black Diamond underneath if you also want the hardware. Safety equipment is identical across all three; federal results are at the NHTSA vehicle ratings site.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Black Diamond still a Bronco trim level? Not for 2026. Black Diamond is a package on the Big Bend trim that adds steel bumpers, bash plates, rock rails, washout flooring, vinyl seats and an electronic-locking rear axle.

What is the Ford Bronco Free Wheeling Package? A retro-styling package for Big Bend with reflective stripe graphics, an Iconic Silver grille with red accents, body-color door handles, Sunset Weave seats and 17-inch black steel wheels.

Can I combine Free Wheeling and Black Appearance? No. The two packages are mutually exclusive. Either can be combined with the Black Diamond Package.

Do I need Black Diamond to get Sasquatch on a Big Bend? Yes. On Big Bend, the Sasquatch Package requires the Black Diamond Package.

Which Big Bend package is best for Long Island beaches? Black Diamond, because of the electronic-locking rear axle, washout floor and vinyl seats. Adding Sasquatch on top brings 35-inch tires and a locking front axle as well.

Does Black Diamond change the Bronco’s tires? Yes. Black Diamond swaps the standard 255/75R17 all-terrains for 265/70R17 all-terrains on 17-inch black steel wheels, still a 32-inch tire.
